Hand-thrown tall bowl/vase by studio potter Frank C. Mann of Vermont, 1950s.   Very rare and very collectable.  A warm, but oh so modern pattern of black markings and brown bands and stripes on the outside, with brown speckled spots inside, against a neutral background, with an extremely smooth surface.  Typical for Mann's work - a unique, eye-catching design with natural colors and shapes, on a hand-thrown stoneware piece.  Can be used for flower arrangements, a planter, container or just displayed strikingly on a shelf or table.

Mann taught at Shelburne Craft School in Shelburne Vermont beginning in 1949.  He was a studio potter and teacher who expanded into production pottery called Mann Stoneware, which sold throughout America and was popular in California, using special kinds of clay from all around the world.    “I am a working man and this is dirty work."  (Frank Mann, 1963)

Measures 7" tall, 5 1/4" across the top, 2 1/2" at base.  Excellent vintage condition, no chips, cracks or marks.  Incised mark, "Mann" on bottom.
