“When Spirits Unite” (1987)
Mixed-Media, lithograph with embossing, metallic color
33 in. x 24 in. (Sight: 26 in. X 18 in.)
Otsuka images and techniques are cross-cultural. Many of his 1980s-90s lithographs display the opulence of Erté and a graphic sensibility reminiscent of Patrick Nagel. The offset lithographs have luxurious finishes like sculptural embossing and metal-foil stamping, combining traditional Japanese and modern printmaking techniques in rich, textured, limited-edition prints.
Black marble frame with gold trim and plexiglass, double-matted in linen. Double signed - signed in lower left and again in second very unusual hand-signing on middle right. #927 of limited-edition printing of 3,000 (plate destroyed).
